Questions about pricing and time
Money questions come first because they shape everything else. A good organizer answers them plainly and explains which parts depend on your project.
If an organizer cannot give you even a rough sense of time after seeing photos, ask what information they would need. Some projects truly are hard to estimate, but a professional should be able to explain why. You can compare their answers with the published starting points on our pricing page.
- How do you charge, and is there a minimum booking?
- What does a typical full day cost, and how many days do projects like mine take?
- What makes a project take longer than expected?
- How will I know if we are going over the planned time?
Questions about how the work happens
These questions reveal whether the organizer designs around you or around a template. Listen for curiosity about your routines.
For comparison, the Sorted Spaces process is three steps: you tell us about the space, we recommend a plan with approach, team size and time, and then we work alongside you. You can read about each step on what happens at a free consultation.
- Will you see the space before the first session, in person or by photo?
- How many organizers will come, and who leads the project?
- Do I need to be home the whole time?
- How do you decide where things go?
Questions about products and purchases
Products can be a meaningful part of the total, so get the rules up front. The answer you want is transparency: you approve purchases, you see receipts and unused items go back.
Sorted Spaces sources bins, baskets, containers and labels when they are needed and handles returns of anything unused. More detail sits on our page about organizing product costs.
- Can you work with containers I already own?
- Do you buy products for me, and how are they billed?
- Who handles returns for items we do not use?

Questions about your belongings, donations and privacy
The answers here tell you how the organizer treats your home and your trust. Nothing should leave without your say, and your space should never become a marketing photo without permission.
Ask, too, about sentimental items. A compassionate organizer will slow down for keepsakes and never rush you.
- Who makes the keep, donate, sell and discard decisions?
- What happens to donations, and where do they go in the valley?
- Will you photograph my home, and how are photos used?
- How do you handle personal papers, medications and valuables?
Questions about what happens after
A system is only useful if it lasts. Ask how the organizer helps you keep it going, whether that is a quick walkthrough at the end or scheduled refresh visits.
Answers that mention adjusting a system that is not working, rather than blaming you, show a practical mindset. The maintenance scheduling guide explains typical refresh rhythms.
- Will you show me how to maintain the new setup?
- Do you offer maintenance or refresh sessions?
