Two kinds of Southern Highlands home, two kinds of project
Southern Highlands sits in the southwest of the valley along I-15, south of the 215 Beltway, with the mountains close behind it. Building began in the late 1990s and continued through the 2000s and beyond, so most homes are a few decades old at most, often stucco and tile with Mediterranean styling.
The community holds a wide mix. Many neighborhoods are family-oriented, with two-story production homes near parks and schools. Inside the guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club, built around a private course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., you find large custom and semi-custom estates.
| Family neighborhoods | Golf club estates | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical pressure point | Pantry, playroom, kids' closets, a garage that doubles as storage | Walk-in dressing rooms, entertaining kitchens, wine and bar storage |
| Common goal | A daily routine that runs without a search for shoes or lunch boxes | Rooms that look calm and stay that way with staff or family resetting them |
| Usual length | One focused session or a full day per area | Several full days, often with a team |
For busy families: start with the rooms that run your mornings
In a household with school-age kids, the kitchen, the pantry and the entry are where clutter costs the most time. We set up a snack zone at kid height, a lunch station, and a drop spot for backpacks and shoes near the garage door, then label it so everyone can put things back.
Playrooms and kids' closets come next. Fewer, clearly labeled bins beat many small ones, and rotating some toys into storage keeps the room manageable. Our page on home organization for families has more on routines that hold up.
For estate owners: closets, kitchens and hosting space
Larger homes in the golf club tend to need the same thing at a bigger scale: zones with a clear purpose. Dressing rooms are grouped by category and season, entertaining pieces are separated from everyday dishes, and the bar or wine storage is arranged so guests can be served without digging.
If you have a house manager or a regular housekeeper, we walk them through the finished systems so resets stay consistent. Gate access is arranged ahead of time so the team can start on schedule.

Garages here face the full force of a Las Vegas summer
A garage in Southern Highlands can get far hotter than the outdoor temperature on a 110-degree day, which is why we book garage work only between mid-October and April. It is also why we move candles, wine, photos, paint, electronics and makeup out of the garage during the project.
With heat-sensitive items gone, the garage can hold what it is good for: bikes, sports gear, tools, pool supplies and holiday bins on sturdy shelving, with the floor kept clear for cars. See our garage organization page for how a garage day runs.
Southern Highlands is a straightforward drive from our studio
Our studio is in Cadence in Henderson, and Southern Highlands is reached easily along the 215 and I-15. We plan arrival times around traffic and bring the organizing products the plan calls for, returning anything that goes unused.
Donations are always your decision. When you are ready to let things go, options in the valley include Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Opportunity Village and The Shade Tree, and we prepare and bag items so they are ready to drop off.
