Choose the location before the accessories
The best spot is a short stretch of counter near the sink or the refrigerator, with an outlet and a cabinet or drawer directly below. If you can, keep it out of the main cooking path so someone making coffee is not in the way of whoever is making breakfast.
Many newer Las Vegas homes have a butler's pantry, a beverage nook or a counter beside the refrigerator that suits this perfectly. Avoid a sunny window: beans and tea lose flavor faster in heat and light.
Arrange it in the order you make a cup
Stand where you brew and walk through your routine. The mug comes first, then the coffee, then the machine, then milk and sweetener. Store items in that sequence from left to right or right to left, whichever matches your dominant hand.
This one change makes the bar feel effortless, because your hands never cross over each other.
- Mugs: hooks, a mug tree or the cabinet directly above
- Coffee: an airtight canister for beans or ground, or a drawer insert for pods
- Tools: scoop, grinder, frother and filters in one small bin
- Add-ins: sugar, sweetener, syrups and stirrers on one tray you can lift to wipe under
- Tea and cocoa: a divided box so guests can choose
Clear the counter by containing the extras
Counters get cluttered when backup boxes of pods, extra mugs and travel tumblers live in the open. Keep two or three days' worth of coffee and a few mugs out, and move the rest into the cabinet below.
Travel tumblers and their lids are notorious. Store tumblers upright and lids in a separate bin, the same approach that works for food storage containers.

Store beans and pods to protect flavor
Whole beans and ground coffee keep best in an opaque, airtight container in a cool cabinet. A pantry or cabinet on a wall shared with the garage can get warm in a Las Vegas summer, so choose the coolest cabinet you have.
Pods are easiest in a shallow drawer insert where every flavor is visible from above. Keep extra boxes in the pantry with your backup stock.
Plan for hard water and a quick daily wipe
Las Vegas water is very hard, and mineral scale builds up in coffee makers and kettles faster than in many other cities. Keep descaling solution or white vinegar stored with your coffee supplies and set a recurring reminder to descale.
A tray under syrups and sweeteners, plus a small towel hook, makes the daily wipe take seconds. For a styled setup with matching containers, see our coffee station organization service.
