Inspirada is new construction, and new homes have predictable gaps
Inspirada is a master-planned community in southwest Henderson, laid out in villages around parks, trails and community pools, with most homes built from the 2010s onward and building still continuing in places. Many residents are families, and many have relocated from California or other states.
Builder homes here are thoughtfully laid out, but storage arrives bare. Closets typically come with a single wire shelf and rod, pantries with fixed shelves at one depth, and garages with nothing at all. That is fine, because it means the storage can be planned around you rather than around a previous owner.
Newer homes also tend to have big open kitchens and generous islands, which invite counter clutter. Deciding early where mail, chargers and school papers go keeps those surfaces clear.
The first week in a new Inspirada home, done in order
Unpacking goes faster when it follows a sequence. Here is the order we generally recommend, adjusted for your household.
- Kitchen: dishes, cookware and daily food so the family can eat at home the first night
- Bathrooms and bedding: towels, toiletries and made beds before anyone is tired
- Kids' rooms: familiar things set out early so children settle faster
- Primary closet: clothing hung and folded by category, shoes off the floor
- Pantry and laundry: shelving planned, bins and labels added if needed
- Garage and storage: the overflow, sorted and shelved once the house works
Making builder storage work harder
We do not build or install carpentry, but there is a lot to gain without it. Shelf risers double usable space in cabinets, drawer dividers stop utensils from sliding around, and stackable bins turn a single closet shelf into several sorted zones. Over-the-door racks and hooks add storage in pantries and laundry rooms.
If you plan to add a custom closet system later, we are happy to work with your closet company. They design and install, and we unpack and place everything once it is finished. Our new construction move-in page explains how we time this.

Moving from California? Bring less, and plan for the heat
Relocations from out of state often mean paying to move things that will not suit a desert house, such as heavy winter coats in bulk or furniture that will not fit the new floor plan. Decluttering before the truck is loaded is the cheapest way to start organized.
Once here, remember that a Las Vegas garage in summer gets much hotter than the outside air. Candles, photos, paint, wine, electronics and pantry overflow should live indoors. Garage organizing is scheduled from mid-October through April. More relocation advice is on our moving to Las Vegas from California page.
Family routines that hold up after we leave
In a busy household, a system only works if everyone can use it. We create a landing zone by the garage door for backpacks, keys and shoes, a snack area kids can reach, and labeled toy bins with fewer categories rather than more.
Many families book a short maintenance session a few months after move-in to adjust what is not working. By then you know how you actually use the house, and small changes make a big difference.
