Pool gear should live within a few steps of the water
The goal of pool storage is simple: kids and guests can grab a towel or float and put it back without walking wet through the house. We plan storage at the patio door, in a pool house, a casita, a garage side door or an outdoor storage cabinet, depending on your layout.
Most homes need three groups near the pool: towels and sun protection, toys and floats, and adult items like outdoor dining and drinkware. Each gets its own bin, basket or shelf.
What we set up for a Las Vegas pool and patio
Pool season here runs long, and gear is in constant use, so we design for speed and easy drying.
- Pool towels rolled in a basket or on hooks near the door, with extras in the linen closet
- Ventilated bins or mesh bags for toys and goggles, so they dry and do not mildew
- Float storage on wall hooks or in a large bin, deflated off-season
- A sun station with sunscreen, hats and sunglasses, kept out of direct sun
- Unbreakable drinkware, napkins and serving trays for outdoor dining
- Cushion storage in a deck box or indoors when not in use
Desert sun and heat shape every storage decision
Las Vegas sun is hard on outdoor storage. Plastic toys and floats fade and become brittle, sunscreen loses effectiveness when it sits in the heat, and cushions and outdoor fabrics bleach quickly. We keep sunscreen indoors or in a shaded cabinet, store cushions out of direct sun when not in use, and choose UV-resistant bins where gear has to stay outside.
Fine dust and occasional wind also matter. Lidded containers keep towels, cushions and dining items clean between uses, and heavier bins do not blow across the yard during a windy afternoon.

Pool chemicals need their own careful space
Pool chemicals should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated place, away from children and pets, in their original containers, and separate from each other as the labels direct. In Las Vegas heat, that requires extra thought, because a hot garage or sunny side yard is not ideal.
We are organizers, not pool technicians, so we follow the manufacturer's label instructions and your pool service's guidance. What we do is give chemicals a dedicated, labeled, out-of-reach zone, separate from toys, towels and food, and remove expired products at your direction for proper disposal. Our guide on storing paint and chemicals in desert heat covers general principles.
Pool houses, casitas and garages work together
Many Las Vegas homes have a pool house, cabana or casita near the pool, and those spaces are often the best place for towels, drinks and spare swimsuits. Our guide on how to organize a pool house covers that space, and casita and guest suite organization explains how we set up casitas that double for pool guests.
Bulky items such as off-season floats, spare cushions and pool maintenance tools often go in the garage. Since garage work is scheduled mid-October through April, fall is a good time to reset the pool and patio storage too. A full pool, patio and garage project often takes a full day, around $1,200. Our garage organization service covers the garage side.
