An established waterfront neighborhood near the center of the valley
The Lakes sits in west Las Vegas around Sahara Avenue, built around the man-made Lake Sahara with walking paths along the shore. It is one of the city's older planned communities, mostly built in the 1980s and 1990s, and its housing mixes single-family homes, townhomes and condos, along with some larger custom homes on the water.
Older homes tend to have less storage than new construction: shallower closets, a smaller pantry, and often a two-car garage. Many residents have also been here a long time. Together, that makes editing the most valuable part of most projects.
Long residency is a good thing for a project. You already know what bothers you about the house, which makes planning quicker and the result more personal.
Getting more from original storage
We usually find that a home in The Lakes has enough storage once what is in it has been edited and arranged well. A reach-in closet works much better with matching slim hangers, a double rod for shirts and pants, and labeled bins on the top shelf.
In the kitchen, shelf risers and pull-out bins make deep cabinets usable, and a door-mounted rack can add a pantry's worth of space for spices and snacks. When something truly needs a carpentry upgrade, we can work alongside your contractor or closet company, but most improvements need only organizing products.
- Reach-in closets: double rods, shelf dividers, slim hangers
- Small pantries: risers, turntables, clear front-facing bins
- Hall closets: one purpose per closet, labeled bins by category
- Two-car garages: wall-mounted storage to keep both bays usable
Downsizing into The Lakes, or out of it
Townhomes and condos in The Lakes appeal to people leaving larger houses, and long-time residents sometimes move on to smaller places or 55+ communities. Either way, the job is to decide what fits before the move.
We measure the destination, help you sort with that limit in mind, and pack what is moving with clear labels so unpacking is quick. Your movers handle the truck. See our downsizing organizer service and the guide on organizing a small home for more ideas.

Heat, dust and the stuff that ends up in the garage
A garage in west Las Vegas can get far hotter than the outside air in July and August. Photos, documents, candles, wine, paint, electronics and makeup suffer in that heat, so part of every garage project is moving them indoors.
Fine desert dust is the other problem, especially near open lots. Lidded bins protect what is stored long term. We schedule garage work between mid-October and April, when the heat lets us work a full day.
Planning a project from our Henderson studio
Our studio is in Cadence in Henderson, and The Lakes is a drive across the valley, usually via the 215 or surface streets. We set start times to avoid the worst traffic and arrive with everything the plan needs.
Smaller focused projects start around $600 with a four-hour minimum. A full day typically runs around $1,200 with an eight-hour minimum. Final cost depends on how much is being sorted, the team size and whether products are needed, and unused products are returned.
